Upcoming Expeditions
Summer 2022
Discovery Islands & The Great Bear Rain Forest Zone
Session 1: June 3rd to June 15th, 2022
Session 2: June 20th to July 2nd, 2022
Session 3: July 7th to July 19th, 2022
Aboard the traditionally rigged schooner, Jan Van Gent, these small-ship expeditions will host international artist and scientist alumni from The Arctic Circle Residency.
The Discovery Islands and Great Bear Rainforest Zone are home to essential, rare eco-systems and natural-world conservation campaigns. Today this vast wilderness must also struggle to withstand increased destructive resource extraction on an industrial scale and encroaching development.
This is a land of contrasts. It is unceded First Nations territory, and is the home and headquarters for Open Bay Centre for Art & Science.
